Officers investigating a reported theft of a handbag and subsequent debit card use in Weymouth say a man has come forward.

Between 2am and 2.30am on Saturday 3 November 2018 it was reported a handbag was stolen from a table at the Lazy Lizard on The Esplanade and that the victim’s debit card was subsequently used to pay for a taxi.

Following an earlier media appeal, a 46-year-old local man has contacted Dorset Police and is assisting with the investigation. No arrests have been made.

Officers investigating a theft of a handbag and subsequent debit card use in Weymouth are issuing a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak with.

Between 2am and 2.30am on Saturday 3 November 2018 a man picked up a handbag from a table at the Lazy Lizard on The Esplanade, hid it inside his jacket and left the club.

The victim’s debit card was subsequently used to pay for a taxi.

Police Community Support Investigator Alice Butler, of Weymouth police, said: “We have been carrying out a number of enquiries in relation to this theft and we have now obtained an image of a man we would like to speak to.

“I would ask anyone who recognises this man to please contact Dorset Police.”
