I was at a Fabian Society meeting with Hilary Benn tonight.

If Parliament were to overrule the referendum then there is a real risk of populist [hater] parties rising in response. [UKIP would be a serious threat again].

If Parliament were to have a referendum on the deal negotiated by the government then it would be oversimplified and again we could have a result that does not suit the majority.

The reason the government is talking about a period where we would slowly leave after Article 50 has expired is because they are too busy fighting each other and haven’t a clue what to do. Who’s idea was this? Keir Starmer of the Labour Party.

We are Her Majesty’s Opposition – a viable alternative to government. Where they falter we take the lead.
