Theatre Alibi has an excellent reputation for imaginative and high quality work for families. This autumn the company tours an adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s spellbinding and moving ‘I Believe in Unicorns’ for five to eleven year olds.

‘I Believe in Unicorns’ tells the story of a boy who hates school, hates books and hates stories. Tomas prefers to be up in the mountains with his Dad collecting honey from the bees, or tobogganing in the snow. That’s until he meets the Unicorn Lady who reels him in with her irresistible magical tales. From that moment on all Tomas and his friends want to do is listen to her stories of unicorns becoming narwhals, or the Little Match Girl in the snow. But one daysomething happens in the village that threatens everything that Tomas loves most and what he’s learned from stories seems even more valuable and worth saving.

Best known for War Horse, Michael Morpurgo is one of our greatest storytellers, creating rich and satisfying tales that enthrall adults as well as children. Adapted by Daniel Jamieson, Theatre Alibi’s exciting production has much for children and their families to enjoy. There is an intriguing set inspired by paper sculpture that is full of surprises as well as amazing puppets and live music on violin and accordion. Brought to life by actors Derek Frood, Cerianne Roberts and Ben Worth alongside musician Thomas Johnson, ‘I Believe in Unicorns’ promises to be a hugely enjoyable and memorable outing for families. Early booking is advised.
