This Sunday afternoon, 2nd August, It’s All About Culture (IAAC) will be holding our annual flagship community event, MOSAIC Multicultural BBQ & Music Event, in Boscombe’s Churchill Gardens.
This annual event is always a popular family day out, for the local Boscombe community, the more than two dozen cultural groups that live, work, and volunteer in the area, and will involve local community groups, charities, and other Third Sector organisations.
The free-to-enter event will be opened at noon by our special guest the Mayor of Bournemouth, and our local Boscombe councillors are supporting this event.
An enjoyable platform for the vibrant and diverse local community, from Boscombe and surrounding areas, to showcase their artistic talents of playing music, singing, dancing – and preparing and serving delicious international barbecue food as well!
Free programme of music will be headlined by the ever-popular local bandAfro Tallawahand with DJ Shaker Selecta. Other performers include David Torres Mora, Jason Hinchey, Andreata, Traditional Nepalese Dancers, and Traditional Portuguese Singer Nuno Frazao.
Dishes of food will be available from a diverse range of local communities, including Caribbean, Polish, Portuguese, and British.
There will be information stands from IAAC, as well as UKNFS (UK Nepali Friendship Society), Healthwatch, Fairtrade Bournemouth, Transition Bournemouth, and Bournemouth Council’s Waste & Recycling Team. The Big Lunch Extras team will be up from The Eden Project in Cornwall and visiting Bournemouth for a community workshop weekend, and will also be there in Churchill Gardens on Sunday afternoon.
This event is kindly being supported by Dorset Community Foundation & Red Nose Day, Big Lunch Extras, the Hadland Trust, Bournemouth Borough Council, and Boscombe Community Forum. However there is also an exciting opportunity for the community to support aspects of putting on the music programme for our event, by taking part in Crowdfunding – please go to our Facebook page and/or website for further details.
IAAC was set up two years ago, to improve community cohesion and social inclusion, in Boscombe and surrounding areas, by using food, arts and musical events to promote great relationships between people of different cultures, nationalities, creeds, and backgrounds.
