The Adolescent and Children’s Trust (known as “TACT”) is the UK’s largest fostering and adoption charity. We have recently launched our services to meet the needs of local children here in Dorset. We are already working closely with several foster families across the county. We are aiming to connect with like-minded people to raise awareness of the need for foster families in the region and to inform those interested in fostering.

Being a foster carer is a job like no other. Our foster carers provide loving homes and life-changing care for children who are unable to live with their families, bringing them brighter happier futures. Here at TACT we help our foster carers to grow and develop to become the best possible carer they can be by offering a comprehensive range of training and support. We know that fostering isn’t a 9-5 job, which is why we are here to support you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Why choose us to foster with?

As a charity everything we do is for the benefit of children in care and on the fringes of care. We are beyond profit, which means all surplus income is invested back into our services, to ensure our carers and the children in our care receive the best possible support. At TACT there are no shareholders that profit from working with vulnerable children and this differentiates us from other fostering organisations in the area.

We work closely with fellow charities, central government and local authorities to improve the system for all children in care. This ensures we are always working together to make changes at a national as well as local level.

I’m interested, what’s next?

We would particularly like to hear from people who are able to care for children aged five years and over, sibling groups, unaccompanied asylum seeking children and children with complex needs.
