Is Channel 4 next on Rupert Murdoch’s shopping list?

In April multiple corporate media outlets reported that Rupert Murdoch had pulled out of a 24 hours news channel for the UK. CNN reported:

‘Rupert Murdoch has officially scrapped plans to launch a TV news channel in the United Kingdom. In a note to employees Tuesday, Murdoch’s News UK said that it had determined that such a channel didn’t make sense financially following a review by US network veteran David Rhodes.”We determined early on in that review that it was not commercially viable to launch a traditional news channel,” News UK chief executiveRebekah Brooks said. “Whilst there is consumer demand for alternative news provision, the costs of running a rolling news channel are considerable, and it is our assessment that the payback for our shareholders wouldn’t be sufficient.”‘

And then two months later the government organise a consultation with the intention of privatising Channel 4. Coincidence? With this government there is always some debauched plan festering.

Ideologically the Tories are programmed to sell everything off. And they and their buddies are the ones to profit.
