It’s a bugger finding any sort of meaningful employment

Having spent a couple of years caring for my mother who recently died with Alzheimer’s, I am now finding it near impossible to secure full-time employment. This leaves me wondering how many others are being overlooked in the employment market. There must be a wealth of experience out there amongst those, like me, who have a broken employment history.

My appeal to employers is this; please look beyond the lack of continuous employment and look at the experience these people can offer. By taking time out to care for sick and elderly relatives, these people have demonstrated a level of compassion, commitment and determination that should not be disregarded.

As things stand at the moment I’m not even getting interviews and it couldn’t possibly be anything to do with being in my 50s….. could it?
