Dr Mary Bousted is a prominent education leader and trade unionist from the United Kingdom. She is currently the Joint General Secretary of the National Education Union (NEU), which is the largest education union in the UK and represents over 450,000 teachers and education professionals.

Dr Bousted has had a long and distinguished career in education, having previously served as the General Secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), which later merged with the National Union of Teachers (NUT) to form the NEU. She has also worked as a teacher, lecturer, and researcher in education policy.

Dr Bousted is known for her advocacy for teachers’ rights and better education policies. She has been a vocal critic of government policies that she believes are detrimental to teachers and students, such as standardized testing and the academization of schools. She has also been a strong advocate for increased funding for education and better pay and working conditions for teachers.
