Witness appeal following reported assault in Bournemouth

Detectives investigating an alleged assault in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses to come forward – with one man arrested in connection with the incident.

Dorset Police received a report at 12.45am on Monday 12 July 2021 that two men – aged in their 30s and from Bournemouth – had been assaulted on Keeble Road.

One of the victims sustained a stab wound to his leg. They were both taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be serious.

It was reported that the man who assaulted them was in possession of a firearm, but no weapon was discharged during the incident.

Following enquiries, a 29-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.

The arrested man and the victims are known to each other.

Detective Inspector Darren Moores, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Our investigation is continuing into the incident and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened to please come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have anything of relevance on either home CCTV, doorbell cameras or dashcam footage.”
