Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an alleged assault in Wareham – with one man arrested.

Dorset Police received a report at 11.39pm on Thursday 20 April 2023 raising concern for the welfare of a woman in the area of Sandford Road.

It is reported that the victim – a woman aged in her 40s – was assaulted. She did not sustain any serious injuries.

Officers attended and a 47-year-old man from Wareham was arrested on suspicion of assault. The arrested man and victim are known to each other.

Police Constable Karam Mander, of Dorset Police, said: “I am carrying out a number of enquiries into this incident to establish the full circumstances.

“I would ask any witnesses who saw what happened and have not already spoken to police to please get in touch.”
