Detectives investigating an alleged serious assault in Bournemouth are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The incident is reported to have occurred at around 11.10pm on Saturday 30 October 2021 in the Lower Gardens in the town.

It is reported that the victim – a local man aged in his 20s – was in the gardens when he was approached by a group of men and punched in the face, causing him to fall to the ground and be knocked unconscious. He sustained serious fractures to his face and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 17-year-old boy from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable David Alway, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the gardens at the relevant time and either witnessed this reported incident, or filmed it on their mobile phone, to please get in touch with Dorset Police.”
