Man with serious injuries following assault in Poole

Detectives investigating an assault in Poole that left a man with serious injuries are issuing a CCTV image of a person they would like to identify.

It was reported that at around 3.30pm on Monday 18 July 2022 a group of around four to six male teenagers or young men jumped over a wall and gained access to the swimming pool area of the Haven Hotel in Banks Road.

The group left after being challenged by staff but returned around an hour later and again tried to enter the premises. A man aged in his 60s went to challenge them and was assaulted by a member of the group. He was punched and knocked to the ground and sustained a fracture to his spine as a result.

Detective Constable Rachel Walker-Hatch, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This assault left the victim with a serious injury, and we are carrying out enquiries to identify those involved in this incident.

“We have obtained CCTV images of a person we would like to identify as part of our investigation, and I would urge anyone who recognises him to please contact us.

“We would also like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.”
