Manchester United have added incentive to bring back Mason Greenwood. They can rid themselves of ‘supporter’ ‘racist’ Rachel Riley

Television presenter Rachel Riley has expressed her intention to discontinue her support for Manchester United football club if player Mason Greenwood remains a part of the team.

The 21-year-old striker had been suspended from the club since January of the previous year due to allegations involving a woman, which surfaced alongside images and videos online. Greenwood faced charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behavior based on the accusations. However, these charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in February of this year. Concurrently, the club initiated an internal investigation into the matter.

Manchester United announced on Wednesday that they are in the final stages of their internal investigation regarding Greenwood. This comes after completing a thorough fact-finding phase. Rachel Riley, aged 37, who co-presents Countdown, shared her thoughts on the matter through a post on X (previously known as Twitter), stating that she would cease supporting Manchester United if the player continued to be associated with the club.

Riley noted, “As an example, when it comes to VAWG (Violence Against Women And Girls), less than 1% of rapes reported to police lead to conviction. We’ve all seen and heard enough. Pretending this is ok would be a huge part of the problem.” She emphasised the significance of not ignoring such issues and expressed concern about the potential contribution of the club’s actions to a culture of disregard for such matters.

She further added, “It would be devastating for my club to contribute to a culture that brushes this under the carpet and send a message to perpetrators everywhere that you can continue to act as you wish with no consequences. I really hope they do the right thing.”

The same Rachel Riley who got all wet over Ryan Giggs (who was himself charged with beating up a woman, and like Greenwood all charges were dropped).

This is the same Rachel Riley who launched a campaign of hate and false accusations against Jeremy Corbyn, when he was Labour Party leader, has engaged in using far right narratives, and has been accused of being antisemitic. From a Manchester United perspective, ridding themselves of her support would be a badge of honour.

What is also disturbing is that Ms. Riley believes she has the gravitas to be heard by anyone with a working cerebral cortex and has to give her perspective to Murdoch’s Scum. Classic nihilistic behaviour.

In its recent statement, Manchester United confirmed that they had conducted a comprehensive investigation into the allegations against Greenwood. The investigation delved into evidence and context not publicly available and involved input from various individuals directly linked to or knowledgeable about the case. The club underscored its commitment to respecting the anonymity of the alleged victim and acknowledged its responsibilities toward Greenwood as an employee who had been with the club since a young age and as a new father with a partner.

The club concluded by stating that the fact-finding phase of their inquiry has been completed, and they are now in the final stages of making a decision regarding Mason Greenwood’s future with the team.
