On Thursday 29 May at 10.30am on Weymouth Harbour (adjacent to Weymouth Pavilion) there will be a wreath laying service hosted by the Mayor of Weymouth and Portland with prayers and service conducted by the Mayor’s Chaplin to commemorate the troops who left Weymouth & Portland’s shores to serve in the D-Day repatriation.

Joining the service will be community veterans, standard bearers and many local associations.

Weymouth & Portland Borough Council Tourism and Culture Briefholder Cllr Ian Bruce said: “We are proud to have the Millin Montgomery D-Day Voyage in Weymouth Harbour.

“This voyage will be a tribute to the troops who left the waters of Weymouth & Portland 70 years ago and show what an important part the borough played in the history of WWII.”
