Paddington Bear has arrived in Dorset and has embarked on what will be the start of many adventures around the county over the next couple of months.

The Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership are pleased to be working with VisitBritain as part of their global PR, digital and social media campaign to promote Britain as a GREAT destination on the back of the international release of the new Paddington film.

Dorset has been lucky enough to be selected to host the famous marmalade loving bear, and the Visit Dorset team will be busy sharing photos of Paddington at key locations around Dorset until the end of January using the hashtag #PaddingtonsBritain.

Paddington’s itinerary has so far seen him build a sandcastle on Weymouth Beach, visit the Olympic Rings on Portland and take a ‘selfie’ at the Portland Bill lighthouse.

Paddington has also discovered the many fine visitor attractions that Dorchester has to offer including the Keep Military Museum, Thomas Hardy’s statue and the Teddy Bear Museum, where Paddington met his ancestors.

A visit to Dorset wouldn’t be complete without a ‘set jetting’ trip to West Bay and Paddington took great delight in visiting the filming location of popular ITV drama Broadchurch.

Nick Thornley, on behalf of the Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership, said “We are delighted to welcome Paddington to Dorset and are thrilled to be working with VisitBritain on this engaging national campaign. Paddington’s well known love of exploring new places makes him the perfect icon for inspiring visitors to discover all that is ‘GREAT’ about Dorset”

You can follow Paddington’s Dorset adventure by visiting www.facebook.com/VisitDorset or keep up to date on Twitter with Paddington’s travels around Britain by using the hashtag #PaddingtonsBritain.

The Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership is made up of the district and borough councils from West Dorset, Christchurch, Purbeck, East Dorset and Weymouth & Portland.  The tourism team of the West Dorset and Weymouth & Portland Shared Services Partnership is co-ordinating this activity on behalf of the other rural Dorset local authorities.
