MP reveals the reality of Bibby Stockholm

Nottingham has been Nadia Whittome’s home her whole life. This city, its people, and its communities have made her who she is today.

Before her election, she was a hate crime worker and, prior to that, a care worker while she studied law at the University of Nottingham.

It was the Bedroom Tax that drove her to become active in politics – because she saw that austerity was ripping apart communities and wreaking devastation on the lives of her neighbours, family, and friends.

In 2019, she was elected to Parliament at the age of 23, becoming the UK’s youngest MP. She takes home £35,000 a year instead of my full MP’s salary, donating the remainder (after automatic deductions for tax, etc.) to local causes.

During the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic, she returned to work part-time as a care worker on the frontline.

In 2020, she was jointly awarded Pink News’ Politician of the Year. In 2023, she was awarded Diva Magazine’s Unsung Hero of the Year.

Nadia sits on the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Select Committee.

Here Nadia travels to Portland in Dorset and exposes the secret barbarism that is the Home Office policy for asylum seekers on Bibby Stockholm.
