Officers are investigating a series of residential burglaries in Bournemouth and Poole where car keys have been stolen, leading to the theft of vehicles.

Since Monday 1 January 2024, there have been 12 incidents reported.

It is reported that offenders are entering properties at night and stealing car keys, before driving away in the vehicles.

Detective Inspector Andy Brix, of the Neighbourhood Enforcement Team, said: “In most of these incidents, BMW cars have been targeted.

“While we carry out enquires into these incidents, I want to take the opportunity to encourage homeowners to keep their property secure at night and to lock all doors and windows.

“Keep your car keys safe, out of view when at home, and away from your front door.
