PARKINSON’S DANCE ROLL-OUT (FOREST ARTS CENTRE)

Brand new weekly Parkinson’s Dance class in partnership with Forest Arts Centre in New Milton The Parkinson’s Dance class aims to provide a fun, stimulating and supportive environment through which people with Parkinson’s can explore and develop movement and expression through the medium of dance through the Parkinson’s Dance Science model.

A CHORUS LINE (1985) (ON SCREEN)

One of the great dance film musicals, A Chorus Line combines a selection of unforgettable songs with the more serious explorations into the lives of professional Broadway performers: the stress of auditions and the fear of failing; the realities of juggling multiple jobs and the dangers of injury, all sprinkled with the fairy-dust of a bitter-sweet love story. Cinematic gold!

MAKE YOUR MOVE (TAKE PART)

Half Term Fun for ages 5 to 13

Tue-Thu, 13-15 Feb, 10am-4pm

We always look forward to our half term activities, bringing vibrant dancers aged 5 to 13 through our doors to experience new dance styles, learn new skills and celebrate their creativity with some of our incredible dance teachers. For Spring 2018 they will be making a dance in three days for friends and family to come and watch at 4pm on Thursday 15 February.

Tickets: £65 for three full days or £12 for the morning drop-in session

NOW YOU SEE IT by Antonia Grove/Probe (PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME)

Written, choreographed and performed by Antonia Grove, Now You See It is a dialogue between wonder and reason, reality and imagination, small ideas and mammoth consequences. It marries straight talking dance with story-telling, anecdotes and a little bit of magic.

THE DOODLE DANCE SHOW by Anatomical (FAMILY DANCE)

Can you dance a scribble, or draw a sneeze?

The Doodle Dance Show is back after a sell-out performance in 2015 with a magical journey of friendship and adventure. Grab a pen and kick off your shoes for this playful, interactive story-show that will get the whole family drawing and moving, doodling and imagining.

U DANCE SOUTH WEST (TAKE PART)

The South West’s regional U.Dance platform is a special inclusive and diverse performance opportunity, bringing together groups of young dancers aged 11 to 19 years (disabled dancers up to the age of 25 are eligible to apply) from across the region.

TEN by ACE Dance and Music (PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME)

At a time when more and more people find themselves having to leave their own lands, the concepts of ‘home’ and ‘belonging’ have become unsettlingly absent to millions across the world. Inspired by global migration, TEN is centred around the relationship between two brothers.

THE COMPANY (2003) (ON SCREEN)

Loretta “Ry” Ryan (Neve Campbell) is an aspiring ballerina performing with the renowned Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. The drama looks at the lives of others in the company, including the passionate artistic director, Alberto Antonelli (Malcolm McDowell), and features many actual Joffrey dancers.

ECHOES & I IMAGINE by Aakash Odedra Company (PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME)

Two very different performances by one and the same dancer, Echoes is a stunning approach to the traditional art form of Kathak. Aakash Odedra dances across a stage invaded by cascades of bells. I Imagine is an exploration of the dynamism of dance theatre by embodying three generations of immigrants through masks and acting.

ORIGINS YOUTH DANCE PLATFORM (TAKE PART)

Origins is a super sub-regional performance opportunity for young dancers to perform on a professional stage and meet other young people who also love to dance. Groups from Wiltshire, Hampshire, Southampton, Portsmouth & Isle of Wight, Dorset and Bournemouth & Poole are invited to apply.

TORO by DeNada Dance Theatre (PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME)

DeNada Dance Theatre presents choreographer Carlos Pons Guerra’s TORO, a Hispanic take on the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, boldly dealing with the eroticism of the story and set in a circus sideshow of a dystopian South America, in a heady world of conquistadors, female bulls, virgin lands and colonized animals in drag.

Famous for the great uncut scene of Mikhail Baryshnikov doing eleven pirouettes for eleven rubles, White Nights is the story of Nikolai Rochenko (Baryshnikov), a defected Russian dancer whose plane is forced to land on Soviet territory.

PENGUINS by Birmingham Repertory Theatre (FAMILY DANCE)

Roy and Silo are two male chinstrap penguins. Just like the other penguin pairs at Central Park Zoo, they walk, play, swim and dance together.When the duo decide to try and hatch a rock in place of an egg, they find themselves on an adventure that could mean raising a chick for real!

PROMISE OF DEPARTURE by Panta Rei Danseteater (PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME)

Promise of Departure looks at how vulnerability and strength come to play in the relationships we have, and the struggles we are forced to overcome. It explores the promise of connection and the departure from our comfort zone, and challenges the dancers to share personal stories and push their physicality over and over again.

REAWAKENING DANCE (TAKE PART)

Monthly classes, every second Friday of the month, 1.30-3pm 

Weekly from Fri 27 April, 1.30 – 3pm

Reawakening dance classes are specifically designed for people living with Dementia/memory loss and their companions. Join Neuro-Physiotherapist Dr Sophia Hulbert and dance artist Jasmine Taylor to explore themes that allows us to spark our imagination, extend our movement potential and find the joy together and through the bodies we are in that day. This includes a post class cuppa and cake social.

FLAMENCO EDITION ‘18 – Sinergia by Manuel Liñán Company (PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME)

Sinergia expresses the inner feelings and emotions of its creator and dancer Manuel Liñán, one of the most celebrated flamenco dancers of the moment. With his personal and innovative approach to flamenco, Liñán alights the stage with raw power, determination and artistry. The artists interact with dance and music to magical and electrifying effect.

AL FRESCO TEA DANCE (TAKE PART)

Come and join Pavilion Dance and the BSO six-piece Dance Band as part of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchesta’s 125th Anniversary celebrations. Enjoy ballroom dance classics from Sinatra and Gershwin through to Elvis and The Beatles. Couples, singles and groups of friends of all ages and abilities are invited to get involved and enjoy this free, live event.

SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE (TAKE PART)

Spotlight is a fun and friendly platform for local dance groups and schools from Bournemouth, Poole and the wider Dorset area. The young people performing are bright, and full of creativity which we are thrilled to share with a local audience!
