Weymouth College has just received its latest set of outstanding results confirming that its performing arts provision is one of the best in the county. In results released from LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art), students from Weymouth College achieved some of the greatest results the College has ever seen.

In total, 41 students from Weymouth College took the ‘LAMDA Graded Examinations in Performance: Acting’ and all achieved grades of a Merit or above, with 75% achieving a Distinction. The outstanding results are broken down as follows: 

All (100%) of the second year BTEC actors achieved a Distinction grade  80% of the BTEC Acting and Musical Theatre cohorts achieved a Distinction grade  Both second year foundation degree actors achieved a Distinction grade  25% of students achieved over 90 marks out of 100 with two achieving 98.

LAMDA is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected awarding organisations. They have been offering practical examinations in communication and performance subjects for over 130 years. Their ultimate aim is to provide all people with the opportunity to develop the life skills they need to be a success: attributes such as self-confidence and the ability to communicate clearly and present ideas. Across the globe, their examinations unite learners of all ages.

David Gray, Lecturer in Drama said: “Weymouth College has historically entered an average of 40 students in the spring term every year across all our acting and musical theatre courses (levels 2-5), so at least 800 students over the years. Taught by Elisabeth Hadfield and myself, results have improved year on year, but the latest set are truly outstanding.”

If you are interested in studying a performing arts course, why not come along to the College’s Open Day on Saturday 27th June and find out more information about the range of courses on offer.
