A magical children’s book by Marylyn Cropley

Released in late 2015 to coincide with the Paris Climate Change Conference, local author Marylyn Cropley’s new children’s book, Planet Earth Needs Our Help, is a charming and very readable explanation of the human causes and consequences of climate change.

Based upon her own researches into global environmental issues, Marylyn’s book uses her own bright, colourful illustrations to portray the magical journey of twins Annie and Tilley after they meet an unhappy fairy in their garden.

Marylyn says: “This book is intended as a lasting legacy to my own grandchildren; a way to celebrate our beautiful planet. It seeks to portray the possible impact of our actions today on the future health and well-being of the planet. This is a message of hope – it is not too late to avoid catastrophic climate changes: we have the knowledge and the international will to take the necessary steps towards safeguarding the planet for future generations”.

The book is aimed at younger readers, but is also proving very popular with adults. It provides a stimulating and entertaining resource for teachers, and can be supported with fact sheets and ideas for teachers and parents, (or grandparents!).
