On Weds 7th February you are invited to join a community assembly about the increasing amount of pollution in our local seas and rivers. The pollution comes from many sources, sadly, but sewage outflows from Wessex Water is increasingly problematic, with recent discharges again in Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay. Agricultural run-off, litter, and plastics also contribute to dirty water.

It’s time to address the problems and explore actions that can make the improvements we need. It is not easy, but it is necessary if we want clean coastal and inland waterways.

The event is being organised by the local Extinction Rebellion group, which is joining forces with other concerned groups. Short talks covering the impact of pollution on health, environment, wildlife, local economy, leisure, and pleasure from an array of speakers will help frame the issues, followed by in-depth discussion about how we can tackle them together and individually.

Come along to the assembly at Easton Methodist Hall at 7 p.m.; there will be refreshments and snacks. For further information, please contact Caz, 07540 997717 or email [email protected].
