Poole man to appear in court following death of Weymouth woman in collision in Bere Regis

A man is due to appear at court in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Bere Regis.

Just after 5pm on Sunday 18 September 2022, officers attended the incident at Rye Hill involving a blue Mazda MX5, a silver Ford C Max and a white Suzuki Ignis.

Very sadly, the passenger of the Suzuki – a 62-year-old woman from the Weymouth area – died at the scene.

A man aged in his 40s from Poole and a woman aged in her 30s from Yeovil were taken to hospital for treatment. The woman sustained life-changing injuries.

A 50-year-old man from Poole attended for a voluntary police interview in relation to the incident. Following a detailed investigation by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team, he has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 15 September 2023 for offences of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving and causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving.
