Green Party Candidate for Poole, Sarah Ward, Condemns Abuse Against Opponents

Sarah Ward, the Green Party parliamentary candidate for Poole, has strongly condemned the recent spate of abuse and hate crimes directed towards her political opponent and his supporters.

“I am utterly appalled to hear of the abuse that the Labour candidate for Poole, has been received whilst out campaigning,” Ward stated. “There is absolutely no place for any racism, antisemitism, or abuse of any kind – particularly towards people, who are giving up their time to put themselves forward and stand for parliament.”

Ward emphasized the need for a shift towards a more inclusive and tolerant society, especially in light of the current political climate. “We are living in fractious and divisive times, sadly of late, fuelled by those who claim to be our leaders. We must all be part of a change towards a more inclusive, tolerant, and kind world where there is absolutely no place for this kind of behaviour.”

The Green Party candidate’s remarks come in response to several disturbing incidents reported by Neil Duncan-Jordan, including verbal abuse and physical attacks. Duncan-Jordan recounted being called a ‘white traitor’ and hearing that ‘Adolf Hitler had the right idea,’ while one of his supporters was spat at.

Ward urges all political candidates to stand united against hate and discrimination, reinforcing that such conduct must not be tolerated in modern Britain.

The candidate has reported the incidents to the police.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said on one incident: “We have received a report of a racially aggravated public order offence that occurred at around 6.30pm on Saturday 22 June 2024 at The New Inn in Wimborne Road in Poole.

“It is reported that the victim was verbally abused by a man inside the pub. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”

Relating to another incident, the spokesperson for the county force said: “We have received a report of a racially aggravated public order offence which occurred at around 3pm on Sunday 23 June 2024 in Baiter Park in Poole.

“It is reported that the victim was sat near the water when they were verbally abused by a man. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”

Sadly other areas are experiening pro Nazi statements on social media. This from Dorchester:

Unless you feel able, do not antagonise them; they are dangerous. Just don’t vote for them.
