This Sunday, Cotlands Road Car Park will be transformed into an open-air theatre venue as immersive theatre company, Periplum, bring their large scale production of ‘451’ to Bournemouth.
As Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival comes to a close for the fifth year, Sunday’s theatrical performance is expected to see it finish with a bang. The car park-come-theatre-venue is expected to see a 3000 strong crowd in attendance for ‘451’.
Based on Ray Bradbury’s classic 1953 novel, ‘Fahrenheit 451’, the story looks at the rise of surveillance and depicts a society in which literature is outlawed and acts of violence are rewarded. Periplum give a modern take on the story with the addition of impressive pyrotechnics, surround sound and high-octane drama.
Due to funding from the Arts Council and Bournemouth Borough Council, tickets are free, however must be pre-booked by visiting artsbournemouth.org.uk.
Please note that due to the nature of the performance, children must be over the age of 12 to attend. Under 18s must be under the supervision of an adult.
