Racist Sought Following Assault On Taxi Driver

Officers investigating a racially aggravated assault in Bournemouth are issuing an image of a man they would like to identify.

At around 11.50pm on Sunday 5 January 2025, a male taxi driver was parked in Holdenhurst Road when a man approached the passenger side of the vehicle while shouting and swearing.

The man shouted racial abuse at the driver, causing the passenger in the taxi to leave the vehicle.

During the incident, the suspect assaulted the taxi driver causing an injury to his eye.

Police Constable Morgan Dew, of Bournemouth police, said: “This was a frightening and unprovoked assault that has had a significant impact on the victim.

“As part of my investigation, I am issuing an image of a man I would like to identify and would urge anyone who recognises him to please come forward.

“We do not tolerate racial abuse and will do all we can to identify the person involved.”
