Re:Generations Rethinking the past to re imagine the future

November 6th – 8th Pavilion Dance South West, Bournemouth BH1 2BU

An international academic and artistic conference focusing on dance of the African Diaspora. Host: Hakeem Onibudo, Keynote addresses: Zab Maboungou, Director of Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata, and Sharon Watson, Artistic Director of Phoenix. Plus workshops, papers, discussions, performances and networking events.

The starting point of the central theme of the 3rd Re:generations conference is the realisation that dance practices that have significance today are grounded in histories of a range of dance forms and the histories of the dance practitioners and companies that have used and developed them.

The better we understand these histories, the more we are able to understand and foster the potential for future developments in African diasporic forms, as well as in forms like ballet and contemporary dance.

If you are a dance artist, student/academic, new media practitioner, venue manager, producer, programmer or dance lover, join this International Conference to contribute to a positive future for the development and sustainability of new dance talent in the UK and beyond.

Presentation & Keynote

The conference will be delivered by The Association of Dance of the African Diaspora (ADAD), IRIE! dance theatre, De Montfort University and Pavilion Dance South West.
