Other principal authority council by-elections this week, in addition to a Senedd by-election, revealed significant defeats for Reform UK. As with last week, there was plenty of good news for those who cannot abide the idea of a far-right party gaining political ground. It’s notable that so far in the results there have been no Reform wins, and also how the Green Party’s by-election results very much continue not to surge.
Outside of Caerphilly, let us start in the Midlands:
The result of the Moseley by-election is as follows:
NAME | PARTY | VOTES |
|---|---|---|
| Al-Haq, Aysan | Reform UK | 345 |
| Mazhar, Danny | Birmingham Community Independents | 80 |
| Mills, Philip | Liberal Democrats | 1634 |
| Pihlaja, Stephen Scott | Labour Party | 1149 |
| Qazi, Nayaz | Local Conservatives | 111 |
| Turner, Catherine Jane | Green Party | 474 |
| Williams, Carol | Independent | 923 |
| Rejected ballot papers | 22 | |
| Total | 4738 | |
| Turnout | 29.9% |
