Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a reported serious assault in Wimborne.

Officers were called at 1.24am on Saturday 21 July 2018 to reports of an assault at the junction of Gordon Road and Barnes Crescent.

It is alleged that a 27-year-old local man was assaulted by another man.

The victim sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment to a fractured skull.

Following enquiries, a 21-year-old man from Ferndown was arrested on Sunday 22 July on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and has been released under investigation.

Detective Inspector Gavin House, of Bournemouth CID, said: “A detailed investigation is currently underway and I would like to thank all the members of the public who have so far come forward to assist with our enquiries.

“I am appealing to anyone who has not yet spoken with police and has information that could assist us to please contact Dorset Police urgently.

“The local neighbourhood policing team can be contacted or approached with any concerns.”
