A new Internet show aims to blast open a new perspective on politics in Britain.  Called The Red Line, by Labour Briefing TV,  it will be a weekly Zoom-based event and will invite callers to help it expose fake news and highlight issues the mainstream media won’t touch.

Presenter Jackie Walker said: “Donald Trump made fake news a global industry, Boris Johnson, of course, has made lying a shameless art form, but Labour leader Keir Starmer has purged hundreds of members of his own party in an almost total media blackout. The Red Line will expose political deceit wherever we find it.”

Walker herself was on the receiving end of fake news when, she says, a vicious smear was used to expel her from the Labour Party in 2019. She turned her story into a one-woman show, The Lynching, and toured it round the UK and internationally to packed halls and theatres, but with almost no mainstream coverage whatsoever.

Walker said: “The left is, of course, used to being sidelined and maligned by the mainstream media, but the Internet has given us a new way to get our voice heard and now it’s up to us to grab it with both hands.”

The show will draw on a huge and precious archive of left wing news and analysis provided by the highly respected “Labour Briefing” magazine, promises to give a platform to thinkers and writers beyond the established media pale and will take its cameras out on the streets to get grassroots views.

But, Walker concedes, the new show faces a huge challenge.

She said: “What with conspiracy theories springing up in every crack in the cybersphere, the tabloids making up what they can’t distort and legions of PR people with limitless funds pouring misinformation into the public arena, we will need a battering ram of epic proportions to jolt the establishment’s grip on the news narrative.”

“Can we succeed? Who knows but we’re going to give it one massive try.”

The first show, “When Women Ruled The World”, will hit Zoom on Monday 7 March at 7pm – the day before the 111th International Women’s Day.
