Stop draughts and cut costs – two FREE training workshops

If your home needs draught proofing, or your community building is a little chilly or pricy to run, how about coming to one of these fantastic workshops we are running this month?  You can get real practical skills in draught proofing so that you’ll be able to fix your own home, or learn how to reduce the water and energy use of your community building.

On Sat 23rd January from 10am to 1pm Communities Living Sustainably in Dorset (CLS), is hosting a FREE Draught proofing workshop at Owermoigne Village Hall.  You’ll learn from an expert and get real practice at fitting draught proofing to the village hall.  You’ll even be able to buy reduced price materials to go home and do your own.  A previous participant said: “the event was very well run, there were clear instructions and fabulous resources on hand”.

On Friday 29th January from 10am to 4pm, CLS is hosting a FREE Energy and Sustainability for Community Buildings workshop. At Hilfield Friary.  The workshop which includes lunch, will cover how to manage resources in a community building: taking into account occupancy, fuel types, practical solutions for heating and insulation, and the latest funding situation for energy efficiency and renewable energy. Participants will also get the chance to see the solar panels, wood-chip boiler, and solid wall insulation installed at the Friary.  A previous participant said: “The workshop and manual were very helpful, we made a detailed survey of our building, inside and out.  We’ve made an action plan and are now looking for finance for insulation and glazing.”

Emily Bullock, Greener Choices Co-ordinator for CLS says, “My work is all about helping people to be greener.  These workshops will give people very practical skills and knowledge so they can make changes to their own homes or community buildings.  It’s not just about stopping draughts and saving money, these actions also reduce carbon emissions and improve comfort of buildings”.

The workshops will both be led by Chit Chong of Low Carbon Know How, they are hosted by CLS with support from the BIG Lottery Fund.  Workshops are free but places are limited so book now by contacting Emily Bullock on 07507 321954 or [email protected] or online at:
