An extraordinary campaign to stop Keir Starmer becoming prime minister will be launched this Saturday.

Crispin Flintoff, a leading supporter of the campaign, said: “Keir Starmer is a danger to our democracy. He will say or do anything in pursuit of power. He is the most untrustworthy political leader this country has seen.”

The launch of Stop Starmer will take place in Starmer’s London constituency and will be addressed by a host of political activists, including: Andrew Feinstein, Becky Massey, Carel Buxton, Chris Williamson, Deepa Driver, Dr Bob Gill, George Galloway, Huda Ammori and Richard Murphy.

Speakers will include Liverpool campaigner Audrey White who confronted Starmer spectacularly in a café, caught on this video https://youtu.be/_8yVSzxWXvo?si=0Nbtn6Vo8jsBzZyA

The aim of the campaign is to build rallies and protests against Starmer across the country.

Mr Flintoff said: “This is a grassroots campaign. We are not allied to any political party and will take no funding from any party. We seek to educate people about the dangers of voting for Starmer’s Labour and to show that grassroots campaigns are stronger than manufactured campaigns designed in London.”

In the past Mr Flintoff was an enthusiastic fund-raiser for the Labour Party and raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for Labour by organising over 250 stand up comedy events. But now he believes Keir Starmer has hijacked the party with dangerous consequences for democracy.

Mr Flintoff said: “The media hasn’t shown the reality of Starmer. But people who’ve been members of the Labour Party know what he’s really like. He stabbed the previous Labour leader in the back, he has broken all the pledges he has ever made, and he is carrying out a McCarthyite witch-hunt of the party — the biggest political purge of recent times.”

Mr Flintoff believes that Starmer’s behaviour as leader of the Labour Party shows that he does not believe in democracy.

He said: “Starmer’s campaign to get into No 10 is the most cynical attempt to manipulate public opinion ever undertaken. We cannot allow him to get power because then it will be too late.”

The campaign launch will be at 12 noon on Saturday 9th September in the Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, London, WC1R 4RL. To see the Stop Starmer video or to register for the launch go to https://stopstarmer.co.uk
