To dear Terry Jones (who has died today following a long battle with dementia).

The genius of Terry Jones can be reflected in so many ways. There are literally hundreds of sketches, interviews, books… but the one that does it for me is the ‘Broken Bottle’ sketch.

Forty years ago the incredulous stupidity of many a person can be summed up by this satire on how manipulating people to adopt a product by spinning its aesthetic or material ‘value’ knows no bounds. And at its core is usually a very stupid, ill conceived idea.

Bless you Terry and all of the Monty Python team for awakening some of us to the world of stupid.
