The beautiful Dorset landscape has provided the inspiration for artists and writers throughout history. For this ‘walkshop’ we will use pre-history as our inspiration as we take a tour through the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman monuments in the landscape. Poet, writer and Archaeologist Bob Hill will lead us through a walk around the east Dorset landscape explaining the existence and uses of various sites and then take us through a series of writing exercises to create poetry and prose based on the day.
As an added bonus we will travel to a camp site in the area and experience the writing workshop element in vintage Airstream trailers where we will be served with homemade soup, cheeses, lovely bread and charcuterie followed by coffee on tap and homemade cupcakes.
Meet at Poole Railway Station for a 10 AM start and then we will travel by people carrier to sites around Cranborne Chase and then we will return to Poole Station for approx. 5PM
The cost for this inspiring day will be £35 and will cover all transport to and from Poole Station, all food and coffee, all guided walks and writing workshops
The event is limited to 6 places only so book early.
Tickets are available from https://poetryfromthepast.eventbrite.com/
Please remember to wear the correct clothes to suit the vagaries of the British weather and footwear designed for walking along the bridal paths which we will be using. It really is the responsibility of attendees to ensure they are suitably attired to ensure they enjoy a day out in the Dorset countryside in November.
