Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after lead was stolen from a building on Portland.

The incident happened between 10pm on Sunday 13 March and 10am on Monday 14 March 2016 at the YMCA Portland Red Triangle Club in Reforne.

Offenders stole lead from the first floor of the building and from a flat roof on the second floor. Before they left a plastic tube was used to jam the fire exit door to prevent residents from leaving.

Police Constable Mike Holman, of Weymouth and Portland police, said: “I believe the offenders would have been at the scene for a period of time and I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area to please call me on 101.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who is aware of lead being offered for sale in the area in suspicious circumstances.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 55160043292. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
