“I don’t mind the persecution of the disabled and the disadvantaged; the growing poverty and homelessness; the privatisation of our schools, our hospitals, the NHS and the dismantling of the welfare state; the sale of publicly-owned assets to their chums at knock-down prices; the tax-breaks for the wealthy while the rest of the population are squeezed in the name of ‘austerity’; or the unprecedented transfer of wealth from the majority of the population into the hands of a tiny, privileged minority too much – but when they start cancelling ‘Loose Women’… well they’ve just gone too far as far as I’m concerned!”, said my Mum in a rare moment of lucidity earlier today.
