December 1st is World AIDS Day and I thought I would mention it since I’ve heard nothing about it anywhere yet.
Since 1988 people have been trying to promote awareness of HIV and AIDS because no one had heard of it and it was starting to make it’s way across the U.S. and there was a lot of misinformation about it as there is right now as well.
At this point in our history people know how HIV is transmitted and how it is not. But not everyone realizes that it’s still a dangerous and prevalent virus.
In the U.S. there are 1.2 million people living with HIV infection and 1 in 5 are unaware of their infection.
That’s scary because that person can potentially be spreading the virus unknowingly and that person and so on.
This year the medical community is saying that everyone should be tested at least once in their lives and that people that are high risk should be tested once a year.
This year take responsibility and get tested. It only takes a second and could save lives.
