Remember Eric Pickles?

Here are five reasons many will remember him:

  1. Expenses Scandal: Eric Pickles was one of several British Members of Parliament (MPs) who faced scrutiny during the parliamentary expenses scandal in 2009. It was revealed that he had claimed expenses for various items, including cleaning and gardening, which raised questions about the appropriateness of these claims.
  2. “Pickle-gate”: In 2011, Eric Pickles was involved in a controversy known as “Pickle-gate.” He was accused of making derogatory remarks about the Cornish people during a private conversation. Although he denied the allegations, they attracted significant media attention and criticism.
  3. Local Government Funding Cuts: As Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government from 2010 to 2015, Pickles oversaw significant cuts to local government funding as part of the government’s austerity measures. These cuts led to widespread protests and criticism, with many local authorities struggling to provide essential services.
  4. Planning and Housing Policies: Pickles faced criticism for his role in pushing through planning and housing policies that were seen by some as favouring developers and disregarding local communities’ concerns about overdevelopment and the loss of greenbelt land.
  5. Language and Rhetoric: Eric Pickles has been accused of using divisive and inflammatory language in his political discourse. He has been criticized for comments related to immigration and multiculturalism, which some have deemed insensitive or inflammatory.

And now a sixth. Not having a clue how his own Party’s policies work.

And they want people to keep voting for them.
