The federation of the UK’s trade unions has today (Thursday) urged the public to continue respecting social distancing rules and stay home to save lives.
Speaking on behalf of the South West TUC, Nigel Costley said:
“We are grateful to everyone who has listened to the advice.
“And we know it is becoming frustrating as the time away from our friends and family continues, or because we can’t benefit from the sunny weather as much as we’d like.
“But we want to remind everyone of the workers on the front line who are truly at breaking point – whether that’s because there is still inadequate or no PPE available to them, or because there have seen huge spikes for their services and social distancing is becoming difficult.
“We’re asking everyone to continue respecting the rules, keeping their distance and be kind. It’s a worrying time for all of us. But this crisis can be an opportunity to be the best we can be to each other.”
