Officers searching for a missing man in the Weymouth area have very sadly found a body.

At around 1.45pm on Tuesday 11 July 2023, it was reported that the body of a man had been found in the Nottington area.

While formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be that of John Manley – who was reported missing after his vehicle was found unoccupied in the vicinity at around 3am on Monday 10 July 2023.

John’s family has been informed and are being supported by officers.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been notified.

Chief Inspector Chris Wood, of Dorset Police, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of John at this extremely difficult time, and we are doing all we can to support them.

“I would like to thank everyone who assisted in our search efforts to find John, including volunteers from Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR).”
