After two successful years Try This is gearing up for an even bigger and better 2015.

Try This… Dorchester is a community led skills sharing project that encourages local residents to try their hand at running a workshop on a topic they are passionate about and enables others to try something they have not done before. It involves a week long, diverse programme of free 1-2 hour taster sessions led by volunteers, with something for people of all ages and abilities.

This year’s event will run from Saturday 3 October-10 October inclusive. To increase the range of subjects covered by Try This , we are looking for new session leaders who have a passion for a subject/hobby/skill that they are willing to share in a workshop in Dorchester either at lunch time or early evening. To register your potential interest in leading a session just fill in the form at:

 More Information:

Try This is coordinated by a group of volunteers and offers around 40-50 sessions including IT skills, singing, bee keeping, crocheting plus much more. The aim of the project is not just to allow people to try something once but to pave the way for the development of new hobbies, skills and interests, even careers.

Benefits of the project include skills and confidence building, the reduction of social isolation and helping people to develop a more positive sense of their local community. The project is low cost and sustainable and has the potential to create a lasting legacy.
