Twitter have removed a series of tweets posted by North Dorset Conservative MP Simon Hoare for hate speech against LGBTQ members of society.
Twitter’s response was quick and decisive.
The tweets, homophobic in nature, were reported to twitter who took them down within about 20 minutes.
The tweets were:
This is yet another example of a Member of Parliament using hate speech and showing no thought for their constituents and beyond.
Mr Hoare, a Roman Catholic, is not a stranger to controversy and deceit.
In Private Eye it was reported that whilst on his election leaflets, in 2015, he put that “My family and I live in the constituency, use local schools and are part of the community,” he had only very recently moved to the constituency by the time that the leaflets had been distributed. It was stated that he was only selected to contest the seat in January and as late as 11 April 2015, an article in the Bournemouth Daily Echo reported that he was planning to move to the constituency. It was also reported that Hoare told the Bournemouth Daily Echo that he was “not a professional politician,” which was contrary to his employment history in various pro-Conservative Party organisations.
He was similarly criticised when he stood in Cardiff South and Penarth at the 2010 general election.
What is wrong with these bigots and how come they get anywhere near power and looking after the welfare of the country?
Penny Lane
They should leave tweets like this that are from politicians up and flag them as offensive. People deserve to know what their MPs are really like.
