Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following an alleged fail-to-stop road traffic collision in Bournemouth.

It was reported that at around 7.05pm on Monday 10 May 2021 a collision occurred on Manor Road involving two vehicles and two pedestrians. It was reported that the two cars involved – a black Volkswagen Passat and a black BMW 116D – both failed to stop at the scene.

Officers attended, along with the ambulance service and two people – a man and a woman both aged in their 20s – were taken to Poole Hospital with serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded to the incident and to allow for officers carry out enquiries as well as an examination of the scene. The closures were lifted at around 10pm.

Following enquiries, a black Volkswagen Passat was located by officers at an address in Bournemouth and a local woman, aged in her 20s, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences. She is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of this collision and we are keen to hear from anyone with information relating to the vehicles or individuals involved.

“I would also like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police or anyone who may have captured anything relevant on dashcam.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place. These were absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to carry out their work.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email at [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting incident number 10:750.
