Dorset Wildlife Trust’s annual fundraising walk this spring will be raising vital funds to help wildlife on land and sea. The popular event, re-scheduled for April following bad weather in the autumn, is an opportunity to enjoy some of Dorset’s most spectacular coastal scenery while raising much-needed money to protect the county’s wildlife.

Nicky Hoar, Communications Officer at Dorset Wildlife Trust, said: “Our wildlife is extremely vulnerable, whether from threats on land or at sea, such as the current seabird contamination; Walk for Wildlife is a wonderful way for people to help us protect the nature we all love and to discover it for themselves with routes that take in the Jurassic coast.”

Walk for Wildlife has a choice of three routes taking in some of the best of the Jurassic coast. You can choose from 7 or 14 miles. Each route will pass through Durlston Country Park and past Anvil Point Lighthouse. There will then be a part of the beautiful coastline to explore that will extend to Dancing Ledge for the 7 mile route and St Aldhems Head for the 14 mile route. Early bird prices of just £12 per adult, £3 per child or £25 for a family are available if you book before 1st March.

Nicky added: “We hope as many people as possible will take this opportunity to raise sponsorship too, so that your friends, family and workmates can do their bit for our precious wildlife even if they don’t join the walk. Now, more than ever, we need to keep up our conservation work and campaigning for the wildlife of this extraordinary county and the marine life off our coast.”

The Walk for Wildlife is on Sunday 7th April, starting at Leeson House, Langton Matravers, Swanage. Registration from 7am. Prices from 1st March or on the day £15 per adult, £5 per child or £35 for a family. Reduced prices before 1st March. For moreinformation or to book your place visitdorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk/walkforwildlifeor call 01305 264620.
