Many residents in Weymouth and Portland went to the polls yesterday (22 May) to elect representatives to the borough council.
The count – where the results were announced – took place today (23 May) at Weymouth Pavilion.
A total of 12 seats were contested across the borough.
Borough councillors are elected in thirds and elections take place in three out of every four years.
The seats up for election were in Littlemoor, Melcombe Regis, Preston, Upwey and Broadwey, Tophill West, Tophill East, Westham East, Westham North, Underhill, Wey Valley, Weymouth West and Wyke Regis.
Radipole, Westham West and Weymouth East were not having elections this year.
Councillors elected were:
Mark Tewkesbury (Lab) – Littlemoor Ward (Lab HOLD)
Francis Drake (UKIP) – Melcombe Regis Ward (UKIP GAIN Lib Dem LOSS)
Hazel Bruce (Con) – Preston Ward (Con HOLD)
Kevin Brookes – Upwey and Broadwey Ward (Con HOLD)
Margaret Leicester (Ind) – Tophill East Ward (Ind HOLD)
Penelope McCartney (Lab) – Tophill West Ward (Lab GAIN Con LOSS)
Gareth Rockingham (Lab) – Westham East Ward (Lab GAIN Con LOSS)
Christine James (Lib Dem) – Westham North Ward (Lib Dem HOLD)
Paul Kimber (Lab) – Underhill Ward (Lab HOLD)
Cory Russell (Con) – Wey Valley Ward (Con HOLD)
Claudia Webb (Con) – Weymouth West Ward (Con HOLD)
Craig Martin (Lab) – Wyke Regis Ward (Lab GAIN Ind LOSS)
It now means the council is made up of 15 Labour councillors, 11 Conservatives, seven Liberal Democrats, two Independents and one United Kingdom Independence Party.
