The Weymouth BID is committed to increasing visitor numbers in Weymouth.  During the Easter period the Weymouth BID team have planned ‘MAD Saturday’ to take place on 26th April. The day will include a series of Mad Hatter Tea Parties and see the launch of a brand new fun activity for all the family, ‘Alice’s Weymouth Adventure Trail’, which will run throughout the summer until 6th September.

On Saturday 19th April the Easter entertainment will commence at 11am when the Mad Hatter comes to town to perform in St Mary Street at the crossing with St Alban Street.  The Mad Hatter will provide street entertainment and balloon making, whilst directing visitors to the new Weymouth BID office at 15 St Alban Street, where visitors can meet the BID team and purchase advance tickets to the Mad Hatters Tea Parties, which take place on 26th April. Tickets cost £3.50 per child and is restricted to children aged between 3 and 10 years old.

Nigel Reed, Weymouth BID Manager said “Alice’s Weymouth Adventure Trail has been designed and written for Weymouth BID by local company ‘Treasure Trails Dorset’. To take part in the Adventure Trail families will follow clues that will lead them around the town to find hidden answers. By answering all of the clues and returning your completed entry form by the 6th September, you will stand a chance of winning a brand new iPad Air.” Mr Reed went on to say “The town will also be hosting three children’s Mad Hatter Tea Parties in the town from 12 midday on the 26th April, tickets will be £3.50 and available from the Weymouth BID office as from 19th April.  We have many characters coming to town on MAD Saturday 26th April including Alice, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, Dormouse and a Walking Table! – it promises to be a fun event and many of the local shops and businesses are putting on special events… so don’t be late!”

Visitors to the Mad Hatters Tea Parties will be invited to take ‘Selfies’ with the Alice in Wonderland characters and post them to the Weymouth BID facebook wall.

Stories from Alice in Wonderland and Alice related craft activities will take place at the Weymouth Library between 10am and 12 noon on MAD Saturday, 26th April.
