Dorset Echo are petitioning Condor to show loyalty to Weymouth. Really? I wondered who the people were, to whom Weymouth were appealing, so did some research. The trail leads from Condor in Poole, to Commodore Shipping in the Channel Isles, thence to Admiralty Holdings and finally (I think) to Macquarie Europe, a subsidiary of the massive Macquarie Investment Bank, headquartered in Sydney. I am no financial expert but think this means Condor is owned by a global hedge fund, managed by ruthless operators who would probably need to Google Weymouth to see where it is.

This is the nature of the beast in our predatory capitalist global economy, so what exactly does the Echo expect? As my favourite stoic philosopher and statesman Marcus Aurelius would say of Condor’s behaviour: “Why would any reasonable person be surprised?”
