Should we be surprised that people are being openly racist?

The answer is complicated but given how society has attempted to confront it and then decades of progress is being undermined the answer is probably ‘no’. We now have a political system that enables racists

and a billionaire corporate media

and too many in the police force

As the discussion above suggests unless we have a radical overhaul of society then education, both formal and informal from a very early age, is the only short term solution.

The issue then becomes ‘how many people want to be educated not to be a bigot?’

The solution to this is much more challenging.
