I dip in and out of Graham Norton, depending on the guests. However, there are certain episodes that are truly memorable. Memorable for specific moments like when Matthew Perry was suddenly under the realisation that Miriam Margolyes was not the average storyteller. Her stories were honest, without ego, and at times cripplingly funny and cripplingly uncomfortable, all at once.

Let us begin with Miriam meeting Laurence Olivier:

How many women who are celebrities are allowed by their agents to talk about knicker creaming? Especially American celebrities. No wonder Matthew ‘felt uncomfortable’.

When Miriam explains to Matthew why she has never seen Friends:

I have never met Marta Kauffman so I cannot comment.

And finally, it only seems fair to let Matthew speak:

For those who do not know who M. Night Shyamalan is:

M. Night Shyamalan is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, and director known for his work in the suspense and supernatural thriller genres. He was born on August 6, 1970, in Mahé, Puducherry, India, and raised in Pennsylvania, USA. Shyamalan gained widespread recognition and acclaim for his early films, most notably “The Sixth Sense” (1999), which starred Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment.

I have no doubt that Matthew meeting Miriam added considerably to the rich tapestry of his life.

Thank you for the wonderful memories, Matthew.
