On April 23rd 1979 I joined a group of friends from the local anti Nazi league and headed across SW London to stand by the Asian community in Southall in preventing the National Front from meeting in the Town hall.

I was only 17 at the time but will never forget the brutality shown by the Police on the local community that night. Buildings entered by baton wielding SPG to make arrests, crowds charged by mounted police, it was like a war zone on the streets of London.

40 years on the Police officer who murdered the NZ teacher Blair Peach that night has still to be identified. The Police may have paid his family damages for his death but they still cover up the truth.

Blair Peach will never be forgotten in Southall time to give the community and his family the justice they deserve!!

Blair Peach RIP 1946-1979
