Wimborne War on Waste have led this initiative in the town using the criteria set up by Surfers against Sewage. 388 communities are working towards Plastic Free Status with the marine charity with just 32 having so far achieved it. The event will be held across Wimborne Square, High Street and Minster Green between 12-4pm. There are workshops, balloon alternatives, live music, solar disco, bubble bar making, stalls, Bournemouth repair café will be fixing electrical and textile items, bag decorating, bunting making, crochet drop in, ukulele workshop, longsword dancing, maypole dancing, smoothie bike and much, much more. 20 businesses in town have created plastic themed window displays to promote the street party. Flags are flying all across the town promoting Wimborne War on Waste, Wimborne and Colehill Fairtrade group and Plastic Free Wimborne.
Crockery and cutlery is provided and everyone is welcome. The public are asked to bring a plate of food to share (in a reusable container, of course). Wimborne War on Waste will be on hand to chat and inform and in particular you can find out why balloons blow.
